Doctors Without Borders Warns of Violence Escalation in West Bank
(MENAFN) Doctors Without Borders has raised an alarming concern about a sharp escalation in violence against Palestinians and a systematic hindrance of healthcare access in the occupied West Bank.
The organization highlighted the growing difficulties in obtaining essential medical care amid these circumstances.
In a report titled “Inflicting Harm and Denying Care,” released on March 21, the humanitarian group based its findings on interviews with 38 patients, healthcare workers, as well as volunteers.
This report outlines the devastating effects of military operations, settler aggression, and restrictions enforced by Israeli forces, all of which have significantly hindered access to crucial medical services.
The consequences have been deadly, with preventable deaths and a worsening humanitarian crisis in the region.
The report noted that from October 2023 to January 2025, at least 870 Palestinians lost their lives, while more than 7,100 others were injured.
The humanitarian group emphasized the severe impact of these restrictions on the ability to deliver urgent medical care.
Brice de le Vingne, the emergency coordinator for Doctors Without Borders, remarked, “Palestinian patients are dying because they simply cannot reach hospitals.”
He further added, “We're seeing ambulances blocked by Israeli forces at checkpoints while carrying critical patients, medical facilities surrounded and raided during active operations, and healthcare workers subjected to physical violence while trying to save lives.”
