Jordan, Iran call for ceasefire adherence amid escalating Israeli attacks on Gaza
(MENAFN) On Sunday, Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi held a phone conversation with Iranian counterpart Seyed Abbas Araghchi to address the escalating tensions in the region, as reported by Jordan’s Foreign Ministry.
During the call, Safadi condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza, reiterating the need for a permanent ceasefire and Israel’s commitment to a truce brokered by Egypt, Qatar, as well as the United States.
He urged the international community to take decisive action to pressure Israel into upholding its ceasefire deal with Lebanon and stopping its military operations in Syria, in line with the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.
The two ministers also touched on bilateral relations. Araghchi expressed grave concern over Israel's persistent violations of ceasefire deals in Gaza and Lebanon, condemning the Israeli attacks and the citizen fatalities they caused. He called on both the international community and Muslim countries to intervene urgently to de-escalate the situation and prevent further destabilization of the region.
