Sudanese Forces Regain Control of Several Areas in Khartoum

(MENAFN) On Saturday, the Sudanese military restored control of several key strategic areas as well as government buildings in central Khartoum, like the Central Bank, in addition to the General Intelligence headquarters.

A military resource affirmed to a news agency that Sudanese army successfully retook the General Intelligence headquarters, sited in the airport neighborhood of southern Khartoum. They also regained control of the prominent Al-Fatih Tower, which overlooks Nile Street, and the Central Bank headquarters in the Al-Maqran area.

The source, who talked anonymously, further revealed that the army advanced and reclaimed the northern entrance to the Tuti Bridge, an essential link between Tuti Island and central Khartoum across the Blue Nile.

Sudanese army units shared footage showing their presence at the Al-Fatih Tower, the Central Bank, and the northern entrance to the Tuti Bridge, marking a notable military advancement in the capital.

On Friday, the Sudanese forces also restored their control of the presidential palace in Khartoum, a significant milestone since the conflict with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) erupted almost two years ago.

In recent weeks, the RSF's territorial hold has been rapidly diminishing, with the Sudanese army gaining ground in several regions, including Khartoum, Al-Jazira, White Nile, North Kordofan, Sennar, as well as Blue Nile.
