Columbia University Adopts New Policies to Restore Federal Funding

(MENAFN) Columbia University agreed on Friday to adopt a series of new measures requested by the Trump administration in order to regain hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funding, which had been suspended due to the university's management of pro-Palestinian campus demonstrations.

The policy changes include a comprehensive revision of the university's campus protest guidelines, as well as a fresh evaluation of departments such as the Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies Department, the Center for Palestine Studies, and the Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies, as well as others, as outlined in a memo released on the university's website.

Additionally, Columbia has agreed to ban masks used "for the purpose of concealing one’s identity" and to prohibit protests inside university buildings. Furthermore, thirty-six university police officers will be granted the authority to arrest or remove individuals from campus "when appropriate."
