Afghanistan's trade volume nearly hits USD13 bn in 2025

(MENAFN) Afghanistan's trade volume for the year 1403 in the Persian calendar (which ended on March 20, 2025) nearly hit 13 billion U.S. dollars, with imports making up the majority of the transactions, according to a representative from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

"Afghanistan's export in 1403 reached 1.785 billion U.S. dollars; while its import was counted at 11.164 billion U.S. dollars," as reported by a news agency, citing Akhundzada Abdul Salam Jawad, representative for the ministry.

The country's main exports include cotton, figs, raisins, carpets, and precious as well as semi-precious stones. These products were primarily sent to Pakistan, Iran, China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Iraq, Uzbekistan, and the United Arab Emirates.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s imports were dominated by items such as petrol, diesel, flour, liquid gas, medicine, cooking oil, rice, and machinery, with key suppliers including China, Turkmenistan, Russia, India, and Malaysia, among others.
