Israeli Occupation Attacks Southern Lebanon, Causes Two Injuries
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))
BEIRUT, March 22 (KUNA) -- The Israeli occupation carried out airstrikes on several areas and towns in southern Lebanon, causing destruction as well as two injuries amongst civilians so far.
The National News Agency (NNA) reported indicated that health authorities revealed that two citizens were wounded due to an attack on Kfarkela town.
In regards to the alarming situation, UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said that it "remains alarmed by the possible escalation of violence following the detection of four projectiles launched at around 7:30 am from Lebanon into Israel in the vicinity of Metula and triggering immediate retaliation by the IDF."
"We strongly urge all parties to avoid jeopardizing the progress made, especially when civilian lives and the fragile stability observed in recent months are at risk. Any further escalation of this volatile situation could have serious consequences for the region."
"The situation remains extremely fragile, and we encourage both sides to uphold their commitments. UNIFIL peacekeepers remain in all positions."
Lebanon and the Israeli occupation signed a ceasefire agreement back on November 27, 2024 to end military escalation, which began back in 2023 and lead to a wide-scale military operation last September, leading to thousands of casualties as well as destruction of homes and infrastructure. (end)
