Deadly traffic crash claims seven lives, injures others in Egypt

(MENAFN) Seven individuals lost their lives, and four others were injured on Friday in a crash between two pickup vehicles in southern Egypt's Aswan province, according to official reports. The collision took place on the Wadi al-Alaqi road, with the injured being taken to local hospitals for treatment.

A security official from the Aswan Security Directorate told an news agency that the accident resulted from excessive speed, which led to the two automobiles colliding directly.

The victims were both Egyptian and Sudanese nationals, and an investigation is underway to determine accountability.

Egypt sees thousands of annual traffic deaths, primarily due to speeding and poor road maintenance, along with disregard for traffic laws.

In response, Egypt is investing heavily in infrastructure improvements, including new roads and bridges, to enhance safety and reduce congestion.
