Qatar Helps Secure Release Of US National Held In Afghanistan

DOHA, March 20 (KUNA) -- Qatar announced on Thursday that it has facilitated the release of US citizen George Glezmann, who had been detained in Afghanistan.
A statement by the foreign ministry said that the released American has arrived in Doha and will depart for his home country at a later time.
Qatari Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al-Khulaifi, expressed Qatar's appreciation for the fruitful cooperation demonstrated by both the Afghan caretaker government and the United States of America, emphasizing that Qatar consistently seeks to activate mediation efforts to find peaceful solutions to conflicts, disputes, and complex international issues.
The minister stressed that the Afghan caretaker government's response to this process is a gesture of goodwill, reflecting its will to engage in dialogue and communication with the international community. (end)
