Turkey intensifies efforts to restore ceasefire in Gaza: Erdoğan

(MENAFN) President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated on Saturday that Turkey is actively engaging in diplomatic endeavors to restore a ceasefire and halt the genocide on Gaza. He also emphasized that Ankara will intensify these initiatives in the lead-up to Eid al-Fitr.

During an iftar gathering (when Muslims break their fast) in Istanbul, Erdoğan criticized the global response, pointing out that those who advocate for human rights have remained silent on "the vile killing of babies in their cradle."

In a statement, Erdoğan denounced the Western world negligence toward what is happening in Gaza, stating, "Many countries of the world, especially Western governments, are indifferent to the barbarism in Gaza."

"Gaza and Palestine are the most painful witnesses of how those who talk about rights and law divide people according to the color of their skin and their beliefs. Pay attention, when the oppressed is Palestinian and the oppressor is Israeli, the language used suddenly changed," he further noted.

Erdogan reaffirmed Turkey’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, expressing optimism that "these dark days of oppression" in Gaza will come to an end, much like the Syrian situation.
