Environmental Activists Get Arrested Over Protesting at Tesla Dealership

(MENAFN) Two environmental activists were taken into custody on Wednesday after spraying pink paint on the facade of a Tesla dealership in Montreal, Canada, as part of their demonstration against billionaire Elon Musk.

According to media sources, local police responded to an early morning call and detained the two suspects, aged 20 and 21, at the scene of the incident.

Marcel Paré and Valérie Lachapelle, members of the Last Generation Canada environmental movement, explained in a statement that their demonstration aimed to draw attention to the impact of billionaires and fossil fuel firms in exacerbating the climate crisis.

"The climate crisis is destroying lives in Canada and around the world," they stated, adding that "yet, governments continue to support fossil fuel industries instead of protecting people from disasters like wildfires and floods."

The group further criticized that "Canadians remain unprotected in the face of climate disaster and threats posed by (US President) Donald Trump and (billionaire) Elon Musk."

They called for the establishment of a publicly funded "climate disaster protection agency," stating that rich people and companies should be responsible for the harm they have caused.
