Lithuanian Beach Uncovers Part of Russian Missile
(MENAFN) Officials announced that a missile part from Russia's 9M335 (SA-22 Greyhound) air defense system was discovered on Klaipeda beach in Lithuania on Tuesday.
The Lithuanian armed forces confirmed that the object was fragment of initial thrust and guidance mechanism. It is believed to have originated from a Pantsir-M air defense system, which was used during a Russian naval exercise in the Baltic Sea. Though it is uncommon for these parts to appear on shore, they pose no hazard as they are merely empty remnants.
Klaipėda Police were alerted to a suspected "explosive-like object" and instructed local citizens to stay clear. Naval specialists subsequently ruled out any danger and moved it to a designated safe zone.
