Serbia Asks for Clarification from Albania, Croatia Regarding Kosovo Defense Deal

(MENAFN) The Serbian Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday that it will submit an urgent request to Albania along with Croatia, seeking clarification regarding their three-party defense cooperation agreement with Kosovo.

The agreement, signed in Tirana, focuses on enhancing defense capabilities, advancing military technology, as well as improving regional interoperability via shared training and exercises.

Belgrade has expressed its opposition to the deal, asserting that Albania and Croatia, together with “the illegitimate representative of the temporary institutions of self-government in Pristina,” are taking actions that could destabilize the region.

Based on the Foreign Ministry, “The Republic of Serbia, as a guarantor of peace and military neutrality in the Balkans, rightly demands answers about the nature and goals of this security cooperation.”

Serbia has raised concerns over the formation of a military alliance without consulting Belgrade, especially due to Kosovo's involvement, as Serbia does not acknowledged Kosovo as a separate state.
