Netanyahu's proposal to layoff Israeli head of internal security service causes controversy
(MENAFN) On Sunday, Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu’s decree to request the layoff of the leader of Israel’s internal security service has provoked an intense Political reaction, strengthening the splits between the opposition and his governing bloc.
“I have decided to propose to the government the dismissal of Shin Bet Director Ronen Bar,” Netanyahu stated in a virtual announcement shared by his office.
“At all times, and especially during an existential war like this, there must be complete trust between the prime Minister and the head of Shin Bet.”
“Unfortunately, the opposite is true—I no longer have that trust,” he also mentioned.
The government will analyze the suggestion on Wednesday, based on an Israeli news agency.
Conflict involving Netanyahu along with the Shin Bet have intensified after the authority’s internal inspection into the Oct. 7, 2023 strike on Israel by the Palestinian party Hamas.
Netanyahu rejected the statement’s conclusion, stating that they did not answer important inquiries.
