NATO state accuses Ukraine of endangering its sovereignty

(MENAFN) Hungary has condemned Ukraine for endangering its sovereignty after a Ukrainian drone strike targeted the Druzhba oil pipeline on Tuesday, forcing a temporary halt in Russian crude shipments. Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto emphasized that the pipeline is a vital part of Hungary’s energy infrastructure, warning that its disruption would make oil deliveries to Hungary and Slovakia “physically impossible.”

In a video posted on Facebook, Szijjarto called the attack “unacceptable” and demanded that Hungary’s energy supply be respected as a matter of national sovereignty. He also stated that Russia’s deputy energy minister had assured him that oil deliveries would likely resume within 24 hours.

The minister criticized the European Commission (EC), stating that Budapest had repeatedly sought assurances regarding the protection of its energy infrastructure, only to see those guarantees ignored. “This is yet another instance where the EC’s promises have been broken,” he said.

According to reports, three Ukrainian fixed-wing drones struck the Druzhba terminal in Russia’s Bryansk Region, though no injuries were reported. The strike was part of a larger Ukrainian drone offensive involving more than 340 UAVs, nearly 100 of which were intercepted near Moscow. The attack resulted in at least three civilian deaths and over 20 injuries due to falling debris.
