
NSU Celebrates 'Spring And Pitha Festival 1431'
Dhaka: North South University (NSU) celebrated the 'Spring and Pitha Festival 1431' with music, poetry recitations, dance performances, and delicious traditional delicacies.
The event was jointly organised by the North South University Social Services Club and the North South University Sangskritik Sangathan (NSUSS).
According to a press release, the university campus in Bashundhara was adorned with colourful festoons, flyers, and banners handmade by students. Thousands of students dressed in vibrant red and yellow attire and carrying flowers welcomed the season of spring with enthusiasm.
NSU's Plaza area became a hub of cultural vibrancy with traditional dance performances, folk songs, and a 'Pitha Festival', showcasing a variety of sweet, sour, and spicy pithas (traditional Bengali cakes). Adding to the excitement, NSUSS students presented an energetic flash mob performance.
NSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury inaugurated the festival, urging students to uphold and cherish Bengali culture. He emphasized the importance of preserving traditions through cultural celebrations and said,“Spring Festival is a celebration of our culture and heritage. This festival is a part of our identity, and our responsibility is to preserve and promote it. North South University will always encourage students to engage in cultural activities.”
The event was attended by Professor Abdur Rob Khan, Pro Vice-Chancellor (IC) and Treasurer, NSU, deans of various faculties, department heads, faculty members, university officials, and students, making it a grand and memorable celebration.
