Umerov Discusses F-16 Program, New Defense Projects With Belgian DM


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Ukraine's Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov met with his Belgian counterpart, Theo Francken, to discuss strengthening Ukraine's Air Force, the implementation of the F-16 program, and new joint defense projects, including their funding.

As reported by Ukrinform, Umerov shared details of the meeting on Facebook.

Umerov congratulated Theo Francken on his appointment and thanked for his willingness to continue supporting Ukraine and its Armed Forces.

The two ministers discussed opportunities for localizing F-16 maintenance in Ukraine as well as training for Ukrainian pilots and technical personnel.

The talks also included strengthening Ukraine's air defense and potential production and localization of air defense systems in Ukraine.

Umerov thanked Belgium and Minister Francken for their active role in coalition efforts and continued military support for Ukraine.

As reported, earlier this month, a new Belgian government was sworn into office.
