Right-wing commentator claims to expose how BPS has been taken over by “anti-racist racists”

(MENAFN) In a recent post, right-wing commentator Matt Goodwin claimed to expose how the British Psychological Society (BPS) has been taken over by “anti-racist racists,” highlighting the infiltration of postmodern ideologies like critical race theory (CRT) into major institutions in the UK. While Goodwin seems shocked by his discovery, the spread of CRT across Western institutions, especially since the 1960s, should come as no surprise.

Goodwin's criticism of CRT, though, lacks depth. Instead of critically engaging with the ideology, he simplistically labels it and its adherents as “racist,” without offering clear definitions or understanding of the terms. In doing so, Goodwin mirrors the same intellectual tactics used by those postmodern ideologues he criticizes.

Moreover, Goodwin falls into the common error of viewing CRT and similar ideologies as “radical” or “left-wing” movements. These ideologies, while seemingly progressive in nature, actually serve the conservative interests of the global elite, helping to preserve the existing economic and political order. Goodwin fails to recognize that these ideologies do not challenge the dominant structures but rather reinforce them, especially in how they benefit those in power, including academia, corporations, and politicians.
