Afghanistan Urges U.S. To Allow Return Of Black Hawk Helicopters From Uzbekistan


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) KABUL: Afghanistan's Foreign Ministry has urged the United States to refrain from obstructing the return of seven Black Hawk helicopters that were transferred from Uzbekistan and demanded that they be handed over to the Afghan people.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Inayatullah Khwarazmi stated,“Neighboring countries must respect the rights of Afghans. We call on the United States to ensure that these helicopters are returned to Afghanistan without any hindrance.”

Following the collapse of the former Afghan government, 46 Afghan military aircraft and helicopters were flown to Uzbekistan. According to the Afghan Defense Ministry, before the Taliban's return to power, Afghanistan had 164 military aircraft , of which 81 remain in the country .

Military analyst Hadi Qureshi criticized Uzbekistan's handling of the aircraft, stating,“Tashkent should have negotiated directly with Kabul, but instead, it handed Afghanistan's military assets over to the United States.”

Meanwhile, U.S. President Joe Biden has described the American military equipment left behind in Afghanistan as a strategic miscalculation . However, the Taliban-led Foreign Ministry insists that all remaining U.S. military hardware in Afghanistan is now the property of the Islamic Emirate .
