Elon Musk Denies Interest in Acquiring TikTok's US Operations

(MENAFN) Elon Musk has denied any interest in acquiring TikTok’s U.S. operations, dismissing speculation during a forum in Germany in late January. “I’ve not put in a bid for TikTok, and I don’t have any plans for what I would do if I had TikTok,” Musk clarified. His comments, shared over the weekend, were aimed at dispelling rumors amid ongoing scrutiny of the Chinese-owned social media platform in the United States.

TikTok has faced increasing pressure over national security concerns, with the U.S. demanding its Chinese parent company, ByteDance, either divest or risk a ban. While former President Donald Trump suggested Musk as a potential buyer, the tech mogul rejected the idea. “I don’t use TikTok personally, so I’m not that familiar with it,” Musk explained.

Musk, who purchased X (formerly Twitter) for USD 44 billion, has been criticized for the rise of hate speech on the platform. As a key Trump ally, he also leads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a budget-cutting initiative targeting federal agencies.
