QF Celebrates 30 Years Of Stellar Achievements

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) His Highness sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al- Thani, the Father Amir, and Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation (QF), Sunday night attended a milestone event marking Qatar Foundation's 30 years of unlocking human potential, contributing to development on a local, regional, and international level.
The Qatar Foundation 30 Years Anniversary Celebration at Education City – held at Al Shaqab, which has special resonance for the founders of QF – was also attended by Her Excellency Sheikha Hind bint Hamad al-Thani, Vice Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation, together with ministers and dignitaries.
As well as reflecting on Qatar Foundation's three decades of impact in education, science and research, and community development, the event honoured the vital contribution that QF's partners and stakeholders have made – and continue to make – to its mission, reinforcing that shared goals and collaboration amplify the benefit generated for society.
In her speech to attendees, Her Highness Sheikha Moza said:“Today we celebrate a pivotal moment in the history of the State of Qatar and the Middle East: the moment in 1995 when all the necessary elements converged to catalyze the creation of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development.” She continued:“We have been on a trailblazing journey, spanning three decades, in which visionary ideas and programmes have been developed, driven by unrelenting determination to arrive at our goal which is national and Arab at its heart, and international in its standards.” During the event, His Highness the Father Amir and Her Highness Sheikha Moza planted seeds beneath an illuminated image of a Sidra tree – the emblem of QF – recalling the words Her Highness said at the founding of QF:“Tomorrow is seeded here”.
The audience heard from people whose lives have been touched by QF in different ways – from education and innovation to citizenship and sustainability – as they recounted their personal journeys in the form of letters beginning“Dear QF”.
Among them was a letter from Dr. Mohamed Eltabakh, Principal Scientist at QF member Hamad Bin Khalifa University's Qatar Computing Research Institute, who wrote:“Despite years of working with leading global tech companies abroad, I always felt the pull to return to the Middle East and contribute to advancing research and technological innovation in the Arab world.
“When I decided to return to the Middle East, I chose Qatar Foundation because of its exceptional environment – one that nurtures research, fosters innovation, and inspires progress. I believe it stands as a model for many other countries in the region to emulate.”
Immersive experiences at the event also allowed guests to hear more stories and perspectives on QF from across its diverse community, explore QF's 30 years of impact, and take an interactive journey through the development of Education City.
Since its establishment by His Highness the Father Amir and Her Highness Sheikha Moza in 1995, QF has built and evolved a unique and integrated ecosystem of knowledge, which is home to 13 schools and seven universities from which 17,500 students have graduated.
Across its 30-year lifespan, QF has conducted pioneering genomics research which has paved the way for the clinical implementation of precision healthcare in Qatar; guided the development of Qatar's National Artificial Intelligence Strategy and of Fanar, a groundbreaking AI model enabling in-depth understanding of the Arabic language; and contributed to shaping policy in fields including education, healthcare, sustainability, and the family.
QF programmes, initiatives, and entities are at the forefront of promoting and perpetuating Arabic cultural heritage and the Arabic language, fostering cultural exchange through the arts, and engaging young people from Qatar, the region, and the world in discourse and dialogue. Education City has become a hub of community life in Qatar, offering opportunities for lifelong learning and cultural exploration as well as inclusive, accessible sporting pathways.
