General Staff: Battles Ongoing In Seven Sectors, Most Intense In Kursk Axis

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Since the beginning of the day, there have been 64 combat engagements between the Ukrainian Defense Forces and Russian troops. Fighting is currently ongoing in seven sectors of the front, with the invaders continuing to focus their efforts on the Pokrovsk and Kursk areas.

The General Staff of the armed forces of Ukraine said this in a situation update as of 16:00 on Sunday, February 9, Ukrinform reports.

It is noted that Ukrainian defenders are holding the line, successfully stopping the invaders and depleting them along the entire line of contact and in the rear.

Meanwhile, Russian forces continue to shell Ukrainian border settlements with artillery. Specifically, border settlements in the Sumy region, including Pokrovka, Novodmytrivka, Shevchenkove and Velyka Pysarivka, have been targeted, as have those in the Kharkiv region, such as Tymofiivka, Klynova-Novoselivka and Vidrodzhenivske, as well as Bleshnia and Kostobobriv in the Chernihiv region.

In the Kharkiv sector, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled one attack near Vovchansk, and another combat engagement is ongoing. The Russian army has launched a missile attack on the area of Nesterne.

In the Kupiansk sector, Russian troops attempted to advance to Ukrainian positions in the areas of Bohuslavka, Petropavlivka and Zahryzove four times during the day.

In the Lyman sector , the invaders increased the number of attacks to six, attacking near Zelenyi Hai, Novoserhiivka, Yampolivka and Novoliubivka. One combat engagement is still ongoing.

In the Kramatorsk sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully repelled two enemy attacks in the area of Chasiv Yar.

In the Toretsk sector, Russian troops attempted to advance five times in the areas of Toretsk and Shcherbynivka, with two ongoing combat engagements.

In the Pokrovsk sector, the Russian army initiated clashes of varying intensity 26 times. Ukrainian troops repelled 22 enemy attacks in the areas of Zelene Pole, Vodiane Druhe, Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Pishchane, Udachne, Novooleksandrivka, Andriivka and Dachne. Four combat clashes are still ongoing.

The Russians attacked Zvirove and Pokrovsk with two aerial bombs.

Fierce fighting continues in the Novopavlivka sector , where Ukrainian troops successfully repelled five enemy attacks near Kostiantynopil during the day, with two more ongoing.

In the Huliaipole sector, the Russian army launched attacks on Huliaipole and Chervone using guided aerial bombs and Novosilka with unguided aerial missiles.

In the Orikhiv sector , the invaders targeted the areas of Piatykhatky and Kamianske with unguided aerial missiles.

No active operations were conducted by Russians in the Prydniprovia sector today.

In Russia's Kursk region, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled 11 enemy attacks, with seven ongoing combat engagements. The Russian army fired 233 times at the territory of this region with artillery, including four times with multiple launch rocket systems.

The situation remains unchanged in other sectors of the frontline.
