KUWAIT, Feb 9 (KUNA) -- The 21st relief flight from Kuwait's air bridge departed Sunday for Damascus International Airport, carrying 10 tons of food aid as part of the "Kuwait By Your Side" campaign.
This latest initiative is organized by the Kuwait Society for Relief (KSR), with participation from several Kuwaiti charities and coordination with the Ministries of Social Affairs, Foreign Affairs, and Defense, as well as the Kuwait Air Force.
Speaking to KUNA ahead of takeoff, KSR Chairman Dr. Ibrahim Al-Saleh stated that the mission is part of Kuwait's ongoing humanitarian efforts to assist Syria, especially in light of the current situation.
The Deputy General Director of KSR and team leader, Omar Al-Thuwaini, emphasized Kuwait's efforts, which have led to 21 flights carrying diverse aid, aimed at supporting Syria's stability and recovery. This shipment includes essential food supplies, mainly flour for bread production, a staple in Syrian society.
The relief mission is part of a broader initiative to provide urgent humanitarian aid in collaboration with international organizations, such as the Syrian Arab Red Crescent. With this flight, the total aid sent through the Kuwait air bridge to Syria has reached 581 tons.
In similar remarks, Vice Chairman of the Humanitarian Excellence Society, Khalil Al-Hammadi, highlighted the organization's efforts to support Syrians, particularly through learning difficulties and vocational education programs. He also announced plans to send additional medical supplies and aid for well restoration and home rebuilding.
Director of Relief and Emergency at Al-Rahma International, Waleed Al-Swailem, praised the 21st relief flight, noting the ongoing Kuwaiti humanitarian work to support Syria's stability, including rebuilding and development projects.
The 21st air bridge mission, which includes 112 tons of aid from several Kuwaiti charities, brings the total amount of humanitarian assistance sent to Syria to 581 tons. (pickup previous)
