US transfers Indian immigrants back home on army plan

(MENAFN) A US military aircraft, an Air Force C-17 Globemaster, recently deported 205 Indian nationals who had been living in the United States illegally, marking the first time the US has used a military plane for such an operation. The flight, which took off from San Antonio, Texas, and landed in Amritsar, Punjab, represents the longest distance a military plane has traveled for deportation under President Donald Trump's administration.

A US embassy spokesperson in New Delhi confirmed that the US is taking a strong stance on unauthorized immigration, emphasizing the enforcement of stricter border and immigration policies. "Illegal migration is not worth the risk," the spokesperson stated.

This deportation is part of ongoing efforts to remove undocumented immigrants. In October, the US used a charter flight to repatriate Indian nationals in cooperation with the Indian government. The deportation coincided with discussions between President Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where immigration issues were raised. Modi later reaffirmed India’s position against illegal migration and expressed readiness to facilitate the return of its citizens.
