Israeli party chief labels Trump as ‘messenger of God’

(MENAFN) Israeli Ultra-Orthodox Shas party leader Aryeh Deri has praised US President Donald trump as a "messenger of God for the Jewish people" in response to Trump's recent proposal for the US to take control over Gaza. Trump's plan, presented alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, involves the US overseeing the cleanup of unexploded ordnance, rebuilding Gaza, and transforming it into a "magnificent" destination, even calling it the "Riviera of the Middle East."

Israeli politicians have largely expressed enthusiasm about the proposal, with Netanyahu suggesting it could change history, while others like Itamar Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich voiced strong support for the idea’s potential to improve the region.

However, Trump's plan has faced significant international backlash. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas condemned it as a violation of international law, while nations such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Jordan rejected the plan, labeling it as ethnic cleansing and emphasizing the need for a two-state solution. Additionally, Russia, the EU, China, Brazil, Australia, and the UN have all expressed criticism.
