India PM's BJP Poised To Win Assembly Polls In Delhi

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) NEW DELHI, Feb 8 (KUNA) -- The right wing Bharatiya Janata Party under Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is poised on Saturday to sweep Assembly Election and come to power in Delhi as per current trends.
The Election Commission of India data showed that BJP won 11 seats and is leading in 37 others in the 70-seat Assembly Elections. The ruling Aam Aadmi Party under anti-corruption crusader Arvind Kejriwal's leadership is loosing as it won 10 seats and is leading in just 12 seats.
The grand old congress party under opposition leader Rahul Gandhi is no where with neither winning or leading in any seats.
In the Assembly Elections held on February 5 in Delhi, 60.42 percent eligible voters cast their votes as per latest data from the Election Commission of India.
The current local elections are seen as a major blow to the AAP under the leadership of Kejriwal as his party lost popular support after allegations of corruption and subsequent arrest and jailing of Kejriwal. In the 2020 Assembly Elections, the AAP had won 62 seats down from 67 seats it got in 2015.
Several exit polls conducted after the voting had predicted return of BJP to power after a long gap of 27 years. (end)
