Deputy PM Svyrydenko: Ukraine Exports $3.1B Worth Of Goods In Jan 2025

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Last month Ukraine exported 9.5 million tonnes of goods, totaling USD 3.1 billion.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian First Deputy Prime Minister, Economy Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko on facebook , an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“In January, Ukraine exported USD 3.1 billion worth of goods. The physical volume of exports reached 9.5 million tonnes,” Svyrydenko noted.

In her words, logistics remains critically important, and maritime transport played a key role in that regard, having provided the export of 6.6 million tonnes of goods. Hence, further efforts to normalize the operation of Ukrainian sea ports are extremely important in order to maintain and increase these volumes.

Last month Ukraine's exports consisted mainly of corn (USD 521 million, 2.5 million tonnes), sunflower oil (USD 426 million, 378 thousand tonnes), iron ore and concentrate (USD 247 million, 3.1 million tonnes), wheat (USD 188 million, 891 thousand tonnes), insulated wires and cables (USD 104 million, 6 thousand tonnes), and soybeans (USD 90 million, 223 thousand tonnes).

According to Svyrydenko, the European Union remained Ukraine's major trading partner in January 2025, with USD 1.8 billion worth of exports. Ukraine's exports towards other countries, including Egypt, Türkiye, China and the United States, hit USD 1.3 billion.

In contrast to December 2024, Ukraine's exports reduced by USD 117 million (or 3.6%) in January 2025. Meanwhile, imports showed a more significant decline (USD 1.04 billion, or 16.9%).

As explained by Svyrydenko, the above resulted from a seasonal reduction in the export of oilseeds and decreased metal shipments, especially iron ore, due to a low demand in China. At the same time, the export of value-added goods remained stable, with some products even showing a significant rise.

The ministry is optimistic about the renewal of increased exports in the near future.

A reminder that Ukraine's export and import of goods increased by 15% and 8.6% respectively during 2024.
