Energy Minister, EMRC Chairman Inspect Readiness Of Electricity Grid During Depression

Amman, Feb. 7 (Petra)-- In light of the Kingdom's weather, Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, and Eng. Ziad Al-Sa'aideh, Chairman of the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission's (EMRC), Ziad Saidah, examined the electricity grid's preparedness to meet the Kingdom's energy needs.
At 6:41 p.m. yesterday, Thursday, the highest electricity load was 4010 megawatts, which is more than usual for this time of year.
The Director General of the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO), Sufyan Bataineh was present during a field trip that included the company's monitoring and control center, the Authority said in a statement released today. In the presence of Reem Hamdan, the director general of the Electricity Distribution Company, the inspection tour also included a visit to the monitoring and control center. To guarantee the sustainability of service delivery to all subscribers, the processes and workflows implemented by the organizations to improve technical cadres in operations rooms, workshops, and maintenance centers were examined.
Al-Kharabsheh emphasized how crucial it is to integrate roles and improve collaboration among all parties involved, as well as to take the required steps to guarantee prompt reaction and weather conditions, as well as to coordinate and unify protocols for handling such situations.
Al-Sa'aideh, for his part, noted that the monitoring and emergency center and the judicial police cadres in the authority work around the clock to make sure that all necessary steps are taken to maintain the supply of electricity in all parts of the Kingdom with high quality and efficiency in accordance with the approved emergency plans and coordination with the entities operating in the sector to address the challenges of weather conditions. He also noted that the authority's judicial police cadres and monitoring and emergency center work around the clock to ensure that all citizens' complaints are addressed promptly.
