K-pop girl group NewJeans has officially rebranded as NJZ and is set to embark on independent activities without Ador, the group's former agency, beginning with a concert in Hong Kong next month.

NJZ on Friday unveiled the group's new name with official photos via social media, updating their account handle from“jeanzforfree” to“njz_official.” The group also announced its participation in Complex Live, a concert to be held as part of ComplexCon, a global street fashion and culture festival. The event takes place at AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong from March 21 to 23, marking NJZ's first official performance under the new identity.

“We are thrilled to be stepping onto the stage for the first time as NJZ and sharing something new with everyone,” Minji said in a press statement Friday.“It's a big moment for us, and we can't wait for fans to be a part of this journey and experience the new music we've been eager to share.”

NewJeans remains embroiled in a dispute with Ador after the group held an urgent press conference to announce the termination of the exclusive contract with the agency in November.

The five bandmates alleged they had experienced mistreatment and ostracism at the company, which they claimed had also breached contractual terms.

In response, Ador filed a lawsuit with the Seoul Central District Court the following month, seeking legal confirmation that the exclusive contract with NewJeans remains valid. The company also requested an injunction to maintain its agency status and prevent the group from signing advertising deals independently.

The group -- reaffirming the stance against returning to Ador and its parent company Hybe -- appointed law firm Sejong last month, signaling the intention for further legal action. Sejong also represents former Ador CEO Min Hee-jin, who has similarly been locked in months of dispute with Hybe.
