KP Govt Plans To Send Delegation To Afghanistan For Peace Talks

(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has announced plans to send a delegation to Afghanistan after consulting with the federal government.

According to sources, the KP government has initiated contact with Afghan authorities regarding a proposed peace jirga between Pakistan and Afghanistan. However, the process has been delayed as two key officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan are currently on an official visit to Saudi Arabia.

Initially, a small delegation comprising KP Information Advisor Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif and tribal elders will travel to Afghanistan for preliminary discussions. The talks will focus on peace along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, trade relations, and other key matters.

Following these initial negotiations, a grand jirga will be held, attended by tribal elders and officials from both countries. Chief Minister Gandapur emphasized that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is directly affected by the situation in Afghanistan. He stated that a formal framework would be developed, and after consulting the federal government, a delegation would be sent for talks, ensuring representation from various tribal groups.
