Farage’s Reform UK surpasses Labour in poll

(MENAFN) Nigel Farage’s right-wing Reform UK party has surpassed Labour in a YouGov poll for the first time, leading the UK’s major parties in voting intentions. The poll, released on Monday, revealed that 25% of British voters would support Reform UK if a general election were held today, compared to 24% for Labour and 21% for the Conservative Party. This marks Reform UK's joint-highest rating to date, a rise from 23% in the previous poll.

The survey, conducted from February 2-3 for Sky News, showed Labour falling three points from January, while the Liberal Democrats and the Green Party held steady at 14% and 9%, respectively. Farage shared the poll results on social media, claiming that Britain is ready for Reform UK. The party is projected to win 76 seats in a general election today, including 60 seats currently held by Labour.

Reform UK's rise is linked to discontent with both Labour and the Conservatives. The party advocates tougher immigration controls, a ban on transgender ideology in schools, tax cuts for small businesses, and opposition to net-zero carbon targets. The next general election in the UK is due by 2029.

Farage’s political influence has grown as Labour grapples with economic stagnation and demands for reform. Elon Musk, who has shown support for Reform UK, has been rumored to consider a donation of up to $100 million to the party, though he has denied the claims. Farage's ties to Musk and other right-wing figures have sparked controversy in both the UK and Europe.
