Iran reveals recent underground ‘missile city’
(MENAFN) Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has revealed a new underground missile base, referred to as the "missile city," located along the country's southern coastline. The facility, shown in a video released by the Iranian military, is equipped with truck-mounted missile launchers, including the Qadr 380 cruise missiles. These missiles, which can be launched in less than five minutes, have a range of over 1,000 kilometers and are designed to counter electronic interference.
This new facility marks Iran’s third underground missile base. Earlier this year, the IRGC Navy and the IRGC Air Force unveiled similar sites along the Persian Gulf and the country’s coast. The purpose of Iran's missile program, according to military officials, is to deter foreign threats from adversaries like the US and Israel. IRGC Chief Commander Major General Hossein Salami emphasized that the unveiling serves to warn enemies against miscalculations that could lead to dire consequences.
Iran's missile capabilities have been a central part of its strategy for deterring foreign intervention, with Iranian officials arguing that the nation's strength compels diplomatic engagement from the US and its allies.
