Egypt, South Africa Foreign Ministers Discuss Bilateral Cooperation, Regional Issues
Minister Abdelatty affirmed the strong historical ties between Egypt and South Africa. Both ministers reviewed progress on implementing the outcomes of the tenth session of the Joint Committee and discussed reconstituting the Joint Business Council to align with the developing framework for trade and investment.
Regional developments, particularly the situation in the Gaza Strip and the ongoing conflict in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, were also addressed.
The ministers explored ways to bolster regional integration and South-South cooperation, stressing the importance of continued coordination within international forums on matters of peace and security in Africa, given the challenges facing the continent.
Reciprocal support for each other's candidacies for international positions, aimed at benefiting Africa, was also a topic of discussion, according to a statement released by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
