Kuwait Battles Fire at Airport Fuel Tank After Drone Attack

(MENAFN) Kuwaiti authorities reported on Wednesday that a fire broke out at a fuel tank at Kuwait International Airport after it was targeted by “hostile drones,” according to reports.

A spokesperson for the Fire Force, as stated by authorities, said that firefighting teams, assisted by the army, National Guard, and units from the oil sector, are actively working to contain the blaze. In addition, emergency crews responded to four separate fires at nearby locations caused by falling debris from the incident.

A Defense Ministry spokesperson added that air defenses detected 20 ballistic missiles and nine hostile drones over the past 24 hours, with no casualties reported. Of these, 13 missiles and six drones were successfully destroyed, while two drones managed to strike the airport fuel tank, causing the fire currently under control.

The spokesperson further noted that a National Guard unit neutralized one drone and five additional unmanned aerial vehicles within its operational zones.

The incident underscores heightened regional tensions and the risks posed to critical infrastructure from drone and missile attacks, as stated by reports.
