Nine Dead In Cold Storage Fire In Eastern China

A fire at a cold storage facility under construction in
Rongcheng, Shandong province, claimed the lives of nine people,
state media reported on December 8, Azernews
reports.
The blaze, which began midday Saturday, involved thermal insulation materials, according to CCTV.
The victims were found at the site on Sunday morning, and an investigation is ongoing.
Safety hazards in cold storage facilities are a known concern, particularly during the dry winter season. The Ministry of Emergency Management has highlighted risks from flammable insulation materials, such as foam plastic, which can produce toxic smoke during fires.
The facility, part of a major construction project for Rongcheng, was planned as a three-story building spanning over 15,000 square meters.
