3 People Killed, As Many Injured In Afghanistan Last Week

KABUL (Pajhwok): Last week, girls' medical education and training suspended but only examination allowed, Norway downgraded diplomatic relations with Afghanistan, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) regretted the decision by Oslo, European Union (EU), Switzarland and Saudi Arabia announced $24 million assistance with Afghanistan.

Casualties:

Three people were killed and as many injured in Afghanistan last week.

Three people, including two women, have been injured in a hand grenade attack on a house in northwestern Faryab province, officials said.

In Kunduz, a man killed his father while in Uruzgan a man killed as a result of a land dispute.

An armed robber was killed during a clash with security forces in western Herat province, the provincial police chief said.

Expansion of bilateral ties:

Mawlavi Abdul Salaam Hanafi, deputy prime minister for administrative affairs, last week travelled to Uzbekistan and during meetings with Uzbek official he committed the promotion of bilateral ties between the two countries in different area.

During a meeting with Afghan business persons, Mawlavi Hanafi asked them to invest in mining, energy, agriculture and production sectors.

Afghanistan, Norway relations:

According to report, Norway downgraded diplomatic relationships with Afghanistan and refused to approve new ambassador of the IEA.

The acting Afghan government has voiced disappointment over Norway's decision to downgrade diplomatic ties with Afghanistan.

Abdul Qahar Balkhi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman, said the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) believed such decisions should not be tied to internal affairs of other countries.

The source said Norway considered international law as the foundation of relationship with the world and on the bases of these laws it could reject the IEA envoy.

“We hope such decisions are not tied to the internal relationship of the countries.”

Suspension of girls' medical education and training:

Girls' education at medical institutes has been suspended , but students can to take final exams. However, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has yet to comment on the issue.

The decision has sparked reaction

Former President Hamid Karzai has asked the caretaker government to repeal the decision to ban girls from medical institutions and open the doors of schools and universities to them, so that Afghanistan could be put on the path to prosperity and development through education.

UN Human Rights Commission also expressed concern in this regard and asked the IEA government to reverse this decision.

Doctors without borders termed the decision to ban girls' medical training and education would have bad outcomes because there was high demand for medical personnel in Afghanistan and should be fulfilled by training medical cadres.

The arres to 800 Afghans in Pakistan:

Last week, Pakistani officials have claimed the involvement of Afghan refugees in demonstrations staged by the supporters of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. They also claimed the arrest of 37 Afghan nationals in the total 1,000 arrested demonstrators.

Reacting to the allegations of Pakistani government, Afghanistan Embassy in Pakistan said that such comments would promote mistrust between the two countries.

The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation (MoRR) said that at least 800 Afghans have been arrested in the past three days by Pakistani authorities.

Iran extradict 500 Afghan prisoners:

Iran last week, shared the list of 500 Afghan prisoners to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) for identification and extradition purpose, a media report said on Tuesday.

Askar Jalalyan, deputy head of the Iranian Justice Ministry's Human Rights and International Affairs Department, told Isna News that as part of the prisoners' extradition, Iran shared the list of 500 prisoners with the IEA.

The purpose of sharing this list was the acknowledgement of Afghan prisoners' identity, he added.

According to Jalalyan, over 8,000 foreigners are imprisoned in Iran in which most are Afghans. Most of these individuals had been imprisoned in connection to drugs and related crimes.

Continuation of assistance:

Last week, the European Union announced it would provide $15.8 million in aid to Afghanistan, Austria has allocated five million euros to help Afghanistan, and Saudi Arabia is providing three million dollars to help fight polio in Afghanistan.

Russia also said it had sent a fifth humanitarian aid shipment to Afghanistan at the demand of its President Vladimir Putin.
