Azerbaijan's PM Holds Talks With Chairman Of World Green Economy Organization


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 15. Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov held a meeting with Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the World Green Economy Organization (WGEO), on November 15, Trend reports.

According to a statement from the Cabinet of Ministers, the meeting emphasized the importance of the ongoing COP29 in Baku, with both parties expressing confidence that the event would result in significant decisions aimed at accelerating the global green transition.

During the discussions, Azerbaijan's ongoing efforts to expand its green economy were outlined, including initiatives to enhance environmental health, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and establish a "net zero emissions" zone in the recently liberated territories. The meeting also spotlighted the country's successful renewable energy projects.

The two sides also explored avenues for further cooperation in transitioning to green energy.

To note, the World Green Economy Organization (WGEO) was established as a proactive initiative addressing the strategic priorities and pressing concerns highlighted during the Rio+20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in 2012. This organization is designed to catalyze and empower transformative global actions aimed at fostering a sustainable, low-carbon, and climate-resilient development paradigm.
