(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 22. Azerbaijan and China Datang Corporation Limited will cooperate in green energy sphere, Azerbaijan's energy minister Parviz Shahbazov wrote on X, Trend reports.

“We were introduced with the experience and international activities of China Datang Corporation Limited with wide opportunities in the planning, design, construction, operation and financing of renewable energy projects in Beijing. Zou Lei, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company, assessed the investment cooperation on solar power plants, onshore and offshore wind power plants, energy storage, and green hydrogen production projects,” he said.

Shahbazov noted that in the near future, the sides agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Ministry of Energy and the company.

Azerbaijan is engaged in a number of negotiations with Chinese companies in the field of renewable energy. Azerbaijan is exploring opportunities for cooperation with China in renewable energy, energy-saving systems, grid enhancement, the export of green energy, offshore wind energy, and the supply of high-voltage direct current (HVDC) cables, with extensive discussions on studying the latest practices.

Chinese companies have expressed interest in joining large-scale activities to realize the vast potential of renewable energy in Azerbaijan. They're currently sizing up the investment opportunities for building renewable energy plants in the region.
