Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan Consider JV For Polypropylene Production (Exclusive)


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 28. Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are exploring the possibility of establishing a joint venture to produce polypropylene, a reliable source told Trend .

"There is potential for collaboration with SOCAR Polymer to set up a joint facility for producing polypropylene and high-density polyethylene at the Khorezm Technopark," the source revealed.

According to the source, projects aimed at producing propylene from methanol, as well as butanediol, polyoxymethylene, and other chemical products, are currently being developed in cooperation with Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR.

Uzbekistan is home to 21 chemical production enterprises, including major players like Navoiazot, Maxam-Chirchik, Fargonazot, Ammofos-Maxam, and the Dekhkanabad Potash Plant. Together, these companies generate more than $1.5 billion in output, with exports reaching $500 million.

Azerbaijan, on the other hand, hosts over 100 chemical enterprises, with the Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park leading the way. The park has 31 resident companies and a total investment volume of $3.3 billion.
