(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 17. Kazakhstan welcomes Europe's investment in the Middle Corridor development, said President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during a meeting with the leaders of Central Asia and the German Chancellor, Trend reports.

"Expanding the Middle Corridor presents significant investment opportunities, including upgrading and digitizing Caspian Sea ports and building cargo terminals. A key task remains integrating transport and logistics systems between Central Asia and Europe. Kazakhstan is pleased with Europe's decision to invest 10 billion euros through the Global Gateway program to develop the Middle Corridor," he said.

President Tokayev also emphasized that Kazakhstan looks forward to Germany's support in connecting the Middle Corridor with the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) and the Global Gateway strategy.

Meanwhile, the Global Gateway Investors Forum for EU-Central Asia Transport Connectivity was held in Brussels on January 29-30. The forum established key priorities with the ultimate goal of transforming the Trans-Caspian transport corridor into a sustainable, safer, and more efficient route connecting Europe and Central Asia within a maximum of 15 days.

In this regard, the EU, together with various partners has mobilized the financing in the amount of 10 billion euros. The European Commission plans to use this money to develop sustainable transport in Central Asia in the short term.
