BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 12. A new
multimodal transportation route is being developed that will
connect Russia and Kyrgyzstan via ferry service on the Caspian Sea,
the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek
Zhaparov said while addressing the VI Kyrgyz-Russian Economic Forum
in the Issyk-Kul region, Trend reports.
“On the initiative of Kyrgyzstan, a new multimodal transport
route is being developed, which will connect our countries through
Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, using ferry communication on the
Caspian Sea, which will serve as a powerful impetus for the
development of logistics and accelerate trade turnover,” he
noted.
Zhaparov stated that Russia is in the driver's seat and will
continue to be a key player for Kyrgyzstan.
“The vectors of our development are clearly outlined in the
Intergovernmental Program of Economic Cooperation for 2022-2026.
Now, more than ever, it is important not only to strengthen our
ties but also to act coherently and decisively to jointly overcome
challenges and open new horizons,” he emphasized.
According to him, trade is a key pillar of cooperation between
Kyrgyzstan and Russia. The trade turnover between the two countries
exceeded $3 billion in 2023. The heads of state have set a task to
bring this figure to $5 billion.
“Achieving these objectives is possible by developing
e-commerce, reducing costs for entrepreneurs, introducing new
financial instruments to support our exporters, industrial
cooperation to create added value and new jobs, and removing
obstacles at the borders of the EAEU countries,” he added.
