Kazakhstan, World Bank, IFC Discuss Key Priorities For Further Co-Op

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 8. Kazakhstan, the World Bank, and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) have discussed key priorities for further cooperation, Trend reports, citing the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.

Discussions took place during a meeting between First Deputy Foreign Minister Akan Rakhmetullin and Andrei Mikhnev, World Bank Country Manager for Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, and Zafar Khashimov, IFC Country Manager for Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

Rakhmetullin noted that the WB and the IFC are important partners for Kazakhstan.

"Thanks to their support, a number of joint projects are being successfully implemented in the country, which have a positive impact on socio-economic development. In the current conditions, these projects play an important role in supporting the new economic course of Kazakhstan," he said.

The parties confirmed their commitment to implementing ongoing projects in the public and private sectors and also noted the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation and attracting investments to achieve national goals and ensure economic growth.

Mikhnev pointed out that the World Bank's involvement in Kazakhstan will expand as part of the upcoming Partnership Strategy for 2026–2030, which will identify key strategic priorities. This year, the World Bank approved funding for two projects aimed at ensuring equitable access to quality internet in remote rural areas and supporting policy reforms for sustainable and equitable growth.

In turn, Khashimov noted that the mission of the IFC, as one of the largest development institutions focused on the private sector, is to create new markets and opportunities in Kazakhstan. Since 1993, IFC has allocated more than $2.5 billion to finance various sectors of the Kazakhstan economy.
