Japanese Envoy Lauds Jordan's Humanitarian Role On Regional, International Issues

Zarqa, July 29 (Petra) -- Japan's Ambassador to Jordan, Okuyama Jiro, expressed appreciation for Jordan's humanitarian role on regional and international issues, especially in supporting refugees.
Speaking at a lecture he delivered on Monday at the Zarqa University and Zarqa Intermediate Technical College on the occasion of the silver jubilee of his majesty the King's assumption of constitutional powers and 70 years of Jordanian-Japanese relations, Jiro said His Majesty King Abdullah has strengthened relations between the two countries in various fields, stressing that Japan has been committed to strengthening cooperation with Jordan for many years and supporting Jordanian institutions economically, politically, socially, educationally, and touristically.
During the lecture, which was moderated by the Dean of Zarqa Intermediate Technical College, Dr. Ghaida Abu Rumman, Ambassador Jiro spoke about Jordanian-Japanese relations, stressing that they are distinguished and based on mutual respect and shared visions.
During his visit to the university, the ambassador and members of his accompanying delegation were received by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Zarqa Education and Investment Company, Mahmoud Abu Shairah, the President of Zarqa University, Nidal Al Ramahi, Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Nidal Eshah, and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Alaeddin Sadeq.
Al Ramahi gave a briefing on the university's programs, services, specializations, and academic programs, stressing that the university is now one of the largest private universities in size and numbers of students, faculty members, and workers, in addition to the university's excellence in scientific research, scientific publishing, and prestigious scientific conferences.
Al Ramahi and the deans of the colleges highlighted the university's efforts in academic development at the level of the university and colleges, the development of scientific research, and the university's community and service centers, which contributed to the advancement of the educational process and the service of the local community.
For her part, Abu Rumman gave a briefing on Jordanian-Japanese relations and areas of joint cooperation, especially in the economy, energy, water, environment and education sectors, and benefiting from Japan as one of the technologically advanced countries.
She highlighted key specializations included in Zarqa Intermediate Technical College, and its endeavor to qualify students technologicially and technically to keep pace with the labor market as required.
The Japanese envoy, the President of Zarqa University and the Dean of Zarqa Intermediate Technical College opened the Japanese Cultural Day in Petra Hall at the Deanship of Student Affairs, in addition to viewing the work of creative and innovative graduation projects for students of Zarqa Intermediate Technical College, and visiting the Japanese kitchen at the Center for Continuing Education and Community Service.
The Japanese Ambassador and members of the accompanying delegation toured the university and college facilities, and inspected key training laboratories such as hybrid and electric vehicle mechanics and renewable energy engineering laboratories.
Abu Shairah, Al Ramahi and Abu Rumman honored the Japanese ambassador with the university's shield of appreciation.
