Improvements start on Riyadh's determined King Abdulaziz Park

(MENAFN) The Royal Commission for Riyadh City has officially launched construction on the King Abdulaziz Park, marking a significant milestone in the city's ambitious Green Riyadh initiative. Scheduled for completion within three years, the project spans an expansive 4.3 million square meters and promises to redefine Riyadh's landscape with its verdant expanse.

The initiative was approved by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, following a proposal by HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, who also heads the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Situated to the north of Riyadh, the park is strategically bordered by major roads including King Salman bin Abdulaziz Road, Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz Road, Prince Badr bin Abdul Mohsen Road, and Anas bin Malik Road. According to the Commission, the development is set to significantly alter Riyadh's skyline, reflecting the city's commitment to sustainable urban planning and green spaces.

The location's proximity to King Khalid International Airport and Princess Noura bint Abdulrahman University, coupled with robust public transport connectivity, ensures convenient access for residents and visitors alike.

The Royal Commission for Riyadh City meticulously selected the project's design through a global competition, ultimately choosing a concept that harmonizes seamlessly with the local environment. The park's design includes six distinct botanical zones, featuring a sprawling 200,000-square-meter botanical garden showcasing over 200 native plant species. Additionally, various areas within the park will replicate diverse natural landscapes such as highlands, plains, plateaus, and deserts, aiming to enhance biodiversity and provide a sanctuary for wildlife.

The King Abdulaziz Park project underscores Riyadh's commitment to sustainable urban development and environmental conservation. Beyond its aesthetic enhancements, the park is envisioned as a multifaceted recreational and ecological hub that will enrich the quality of life for Riyadh's residents while promoting tourism and fostering community engagement.

With construction now underway, the completion of King Abdulaziz Park is poised to mark a transformative milestone in Riyadh's evolution into a modern, green metropolis, aligning with broader national visions for sustainable development and enhanced urban livability.
