JSMO Closes Gas Stations, Ensuring Standards Compliance
Highlighting the efforts of JSMO's inspection teams to verify the accuracy of fuel pump meters and cylinder weights, the organisation announced that a total of 10,000 fuel pumps and nearly 4,700 domestic gas cylinders were examined to ensure compliance with standards and protect consumer rights, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
During routine and unannounced inspections, JSMO tested more than 600 fuel samples to ensure they met the Jordanian technical standards. They also inspected some 540 samples from ships arriving at the Aqaba port to verify that imported petroleum products met the required specifications before being unloaded.
In the area of scales and pre-packaged products, the JSMO inspected 1,450 scales and verified 1,100 types of pre-packaged products.
In the January-June period, the JSMO also inspected 9,550 taxi meters and dealt with 229 complaints relating to petrol stations, tankers, weights, scales, and measuring instruments.
The JSMO has urged the public to report any inaccuracies in measuring devices such as petrol pump meters, scales, or taxi meters through its unified complaint phone and WhatsApp number 065301243, social media pages, website, and the“Bekhidmatikum” (“At Your Service” in Arabic) platform.
