Burson Names Former UK Diplomat & Policy Specialist As Global Public Affairs Chair


(MENAFN- PRovoke) LONDON - Burson has named Damion Potter as global chair of public affairs, with a brief to lead the integration and development of public affairs advisory across the agency, after it was formed from the merger of BCW and Hill & Knowlton last mont .

Potter, who will serve on Burson's global leadership team, brings his experience of leadership roles in international diplomacy, government and public affairs, communications, crisis response, policy, trade and economic development, having worked in the public and private sectors across the UK, Europe, the former Soviet Union, Asia and the Americas.

Most recently, Potter was vice president and global head of policy and government affairs for Haleon,
the GSK consumer healthcare spin out, which was the largest listing on the London stock exchange in the past two decades. At Haleon, he was responsible for setting global public policy objectives and government engagement around the world.

Before joining Haleon in 2022, Potter led the delivery department for the UN Climate Change Conference hosted in Glasgow (COP26), representing the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, advising the government on policy and leading implementation of the World Leader Summit.

Earlier in his career, Potter was the British ambassador to Panama City and head of Central America network, directing UK interests in trade, prosperity, peace and security. He negotiated the UK's trade deal with six Central American countries following Brexit, and also served in diplomatic capacities in Sweden, Taiwan and Russia, with a focus on bilateral trade and investment in Taipei and Moscow. He was previously communications director and spokesperson for ESPN in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific.

In his new role at Burson, Potter will work with Burson's teams in governmental centres around the world, as well as a network of external advisors, and specialist companies in Washington DC, including Dewey Square Group, Direct Impact and Prime Policy Group.
