Russian forces proceed in Ukraine, Donbass

(MENAFN) On Sunday, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced significant advances by Russian forces in Ukraine and the Donbass region. According to the report, Russian troops have successfully liberated the town of Rozovka in the Lugansk People’s Republic and seized Pestchanoye Nizhneye in Ukraine’s Kharkov Region. This progress comes amid intensified fighting along the front lines, with Russian officials claiming substantial Ukrainian casualties and equipment losses over the past 24 hours.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Ukrainian forces have suffered over 1,500 casualties in various key areas along the front. The Ukrainian military has also lost several artillery pieces, including United States-made М777 howitzers, as well as seven ammunition depots which were hit by Russian strikes. The ministry highlighted that its forces have made strategic gains by improving their positions in multiple areas within the Donetsk People’s Republic.

In addition to targeting Ukrainian artillery, Russian forces have reportedly struck several Ukrainian self-propelled guns of both Western and Soviet origin. The losses include a United States-made radar system and a Soviet-era radio warfare system. Furthermore, Russian strikes have disabled a United States-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket system and several industrial facilities used by the Ukrainian military.

Russian air defenses also achieved a notable success by downing a Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopter over the past 24 hours. This latest wave of military actions underscores the ongoing intensity of the conflict and the continuing efforts by Russian forces to consolidate their positions in the contested regions of Ukraine.
