Netanyahu claims that Israel is able to reach its enemies anywhere

(MENAFN) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has lauded the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) for executing what he described as a “precise and successful operation” from over 1,700 kilometers away, signaling a stern warning to all adversaries of Israel. On Saturday, the IDF conducted its first large-scale air raid on Yemen, targeting the port city of Hodeidah. The attack resulted in a significant fire at the port's oil terminal and has left at least 80 people injured, according to preliminary reports from Sanaa's health ministry.

In a video statement released on Saturday evening, Netanyahu emphasized that the port targeted was not merely a civilian facility but was utilized for military purposes, specifically as a conduit for deadly weapons supplied to the Houthi rebels by Iran. This operation was framed as a direct response to a recent drone attack, which had struck near the United States Consulate in Tel Aviv, killing one person and injuring at least ten others. The drone attack, which the Houthis claimed as a major military achievement, occurred just days before Netanyahu's planned speech before the US Congress in Washington, DC.

The IDF's inability to intercept the drone, which had been detected by air defenses in advance, was attributed to “human error,” despite the advance warning. This incident underscores the complex security challenges faced by Israel as it continues to assert its military capabilities in the face of regional threats.
