President of National Cybersecurity Center announces efforts to implement launched National Cybersecurity Strategy
(MENAFN) Dr. Bassam Al-Mahrameh, the President of the National Cybersecurity Center, recently announced the commencement of efforts to implement the newly launched National Cybersecurity Strategy. This initiative, named "Jordanian Cyberspace Vision 2024-2028," is being developed in collaboration with various authorities to formulate a detailed execution plan.
Dr. Al-Mahrameh elaborated that this implementation plan will act as a comprehensive roadmap, featuring executive programs for each aspect of the new strategy. In the forthcoming weeks, the Center plans to conduct a series of consultative and dialogue meetings with all relevant stakeholders. These discussions aim to facilitate the development of the strategy's executive plan, which will include specific programs for the government, private, security, and academic sectors. Upon completion, the comprehensive plan and its sub-plans will be officially announced.
The proposed plan will be segmented into four sub-executive programs, each covering one year from 2024 to 2028. Each annual program will comprise various projects and initiatives designed to bolster cybersecurity. This structured method ensures the systematic achievement of the strategy's objectives over the four-year period.
The new national cybersecurity strategy, along with its implementation plan, will target four primary groups: critical infrastructure, individuals residing in Jordan, the business sector (including companies and institutions), and government entities (such as ministries and departments). Dr. Al-Mahrameh highlighted the importance of active participation and task distribution among all relevant parties to effectively implement the plan and build upon the progress made in cybersecurity over the past two years.
His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, Deputy King Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, was briefed on the advancement of the National Cybersecurity Program. During a meeting with officials, he emphasized the necessity of developing systems to address emergency cyber incidents, especially in critical and vital sectors. He also underscored the importance of supporting projects and digital transactions to facilitate citizens' lives, praising the efforts of institutions involved in cybersecurity over the past two years. The Crown Prince highlighted the critical need to protect information from breaches, particularly in light of the recent surge in cyberattacks.
Under Dr. Al-Mahrameh's leadership, the National Cybersecurity Center is dedicated to enhancing Jordan's cybersecurity framework through this strategic plan. This ensures that the Kingdom is prepared to tackle evolving cyber threats and challenges in the coming years.
