Doha, Qatar: In a prestigious accolade for architectural marvels, Qatar National Library has been hailed as one of the most exquisite libraries globally, earning its place on AD Middle East's coveted list of 17 most beautiful libraries.

Qatar National Library named, in the fourth place of“The 17 Most Beautiful Libraries in the World” list, has been described as“mesmerising.”

According to AD Middle East“The visual (and emotional) impact is mesmerising: it suddenly feels as though you are surrounded by all the books the 138-metre-long library has to offer.”

The Qatar National Library designed by Rem Koolhas resembles two pieces of paper that are pulled apart and folded diagonally at the corners to create a shell-like structure, enclosing the open-plan interior. This concept gives the building a striking and memorable appearance.

The architecture incorporates cutting-edge technology and sustainability features. For instance, the library roof is designed to minimise solar heat gain while allowing natural light to filter through, creating a comfortable and energy-efficient interior environment.

AD Middle East includes Library of Strahov Monastery in Prague, Czech Republic; Old Library of Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland; and Royal Portuguese Cabinet of Reading in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in the first three places.

“AD Middle East” is a regional edition of the renowned international magazine“Architectural Digest.” It focuses on architecture, interior design, and lifestyle across the Middle Eastern region. AD Middle East features articles, interviews, and photography related to luxury homes, innovative architecture, and stylish interior designs, catering specifically to the tastes and trends prevalent in the Middle East.

The Qatar National Library beyond its functional role as a library, the building serves as a cultural landmark and symbol of Qatar's commitment to education, knowledge, and innovation.

Inside, the library offers a range of visually stunning spaces, including vast reading rooms, exhibition areas, and specialised research facilities. The layout is designed to facilitate learning and interaction while maintaining a sense of openness and accessibility.

Overall, the Qatar National Library's architecture stands out not only for its aesthetic appeal and technological innovation but also for its cultural significance and symbolic representation of Qatar's aspirations in education and intellectual advancement.
