Indian Soldier Killed In Jammu, Kashmir Encounter With Militants


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) NEW DELHI, July 6 (KUNA) -- One Indian soldier was killed on Saturday during an encounter with militants in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Press Trust of India said quoting officials that a gunfight took place at Modergam village of Kulgam in south Kashmir after the security forces launched a cordon and search operation following specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants there.
A soldier lost his life as the hiding militants fired upon the search team, the officials said.
Meanwhile, another encounter broke out in the Frisal Chinnigam area of Kulgam between the security forces and militants, according to the agency.
New Delhi accuses Islamabad of supporting and funding the armed groups in Kashmir, claims which Islamabad denies. (end)
